Small Business Saturday 6th December 2014

We have now been open in The Old Library on Nant Hall Road, Prestatyn for 2 weeks and currently have 21 small businesses working with with us, with more to join soon.

On Saturday 6th 2014 we are getting involved with Small Business Saturday more details here.
This is also on the same day as #Prestatyn Festive Fun Day  so there will be plenty to see and do across town, we will be offering festive drinks and nibbles to celebrate.

"Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-political, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

The day itself takes place on the first shopping Saturday in December each year, but the campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses. In 2014 Small Business Saturday UK will take place on Saturday December 6th."

More details published on our website.

Mid September Updates

Pete has been working on the website artisans-collective.org.uk as we have noticed that the number of visitors using mobile or handheld technology is now great than traditional PC or laptop users.

The site has been simplified and almost stripped back to ensure it loads quickly on devices with less memory needed particularly when on slower public connections.

A good day at Rhuddlan Artisan Fair.

Another good day was had by all at the Rhuddlan Artisan Fair held at the historic St Marys church on the last day of May.

On a beautifully sunny day it was still cool within the church where some wonderfully varied items were on display and for sale from local artisan producers.

Held generally on the Third Saturday of each month, the event helps raise funds to support the churches upkeep

PR Matters

Today is the official start of spring and it is off to a flying start for Artisans Collective with a nice article in the local newspaper the Rhyl Journal

It was also nice to be informed that we have been selected to attend a funded PR course in April being provided by Accord PR through Business Supporting Communities and DVSC.

We will be able to put this to good use to ensure further positive press coverage in the future.

Artisans Collective CIC March Update

We kicked off March 2014 with a very busy day in #Prestatyn Town Centre, with the Town Council Organised St Davids Day event.

We are now planning ahead for future events including Easter, Halloween and Christmas in Prestatyn.

Over the past few weeks we have also been approached to help organise and co-organise other events in North Wales, this is something we are currently considering, as we are expecting to move into new premises soon, and we do not wish to dilute our efforts in that direction.

On Friday 7th March we are attending a lunchtime event organised by Dr James Davies in St Asaph, along with other local businesses and with Karren Brady. Many of you will know her from the BBC One series "The Apprentice". Karren is the Small Business Ambassador to the UK Government under Prime Minister David Cameron.  She is the former managing director of  Birmingham City Football Club and current vice-chairman of West Ham United, as well as a newspaper columnist, author and novelist.

During the course of the month we also have a number of Art and Craft events locally, including the oversubscribed Rhuddlan Artisan Fair on Saturday 22nd.

St Davids Day Free Craft Workshops 2014

We have had some great feedback from our craft workshops held on Prestatyn High Street on St Davids Day 2014.

Thank you everybody for coming and making your Welsh themed items with us today in Prestatyn.
Over 200 items were completed in just over 4 hours, at one stage we had to call upon reserve stock to satisfy demand, sorry if you were not able to make the exact item you wanted.
It is becoming increasingly obvious to us what a talented group of young people we have in the town and how much they all enjoy creating

"My granddaughter Jess just loved making her windmill and her flag.
So sorry it took her so long. But she is so proud of it. Then she got a flower balloon off mr tumble and had her photo taken in the sheep on the high street look hilarious a cat face on a woolly sheep. It was a great day for the kids. And me"
"There was a wonderful buzz in Prestatyn yesterday. St David's Day celebrations, the Artisans Collective free craft event, and the beautiful weather all played a part in bringing people into town. It was good to see people from Liverpool and Manchester back in the shop again." - Cathy from Nouveau Riche

"Reflecting on a busy St David's Day the Artisans Collective CIC had making Welsh related items with lots of happy children on Prestatyn High Street yesterday.
Apart from being astounded, once again, at how well our efforts were so gratefuly received by all participants and accompanying adults, I was delighted at how polite and engaging the children all were. They certainly are a credit to their parents and should be duly proud of their creative abilities and their wonderful manners.
Looking forward to sharing some "cracking" Easter crafts the next time we meet. By the way I do like Cadbury's Creme eggs!" - Yvette Byrne Jones
"Had a great day getting crafty with the Artisans Collective CIC in Prestatyn today, making lots of daffodil garlands and daffodil windmills to celebrate St. David's Day!"  - Michelle Thompson
"A massive thank you to all who collected and donated as part of the Great Daffodil Appeal today. The collection in Prestatyn High Street raised an amazing £1,021.12 to support our local Marie Curie Nurses so a HUGE thank you to everyone involved. Don't worry if you didn't get your Daffodil today there are still plenty of opportunities throughout March to get one." - Rhyl and Prestatyn Marie Curie Fundraising Group
